BELLE CHEN
special event at Polygon Portal, Soho
A special 360º Spatial Audio Playback Event
A rare opportunity to experience selected tracks from pianist-composer Belle Chen’s album “Ravel In The Forest”, played back in spatial audio.
An album inspired by the sights, sounds, textures, and temperatures of the forest, “Ravel In The Forest” takes on a different life with Polygon Portal’s 17.1.10 spatial audio set-up.
The playback will be followed by a 20-minute live synth improvisation, exploring spatial audio in real-time, and a sneak peek into what is to come from the London-based musical maverick.
Words from Belle:
"When I began writing "Ravel In The Forest", my intention was always to create something immersive - a reflection of the experience that inspired it. The forest does not simply surround us in space, but in time. Layers emerge and recede, emotions pass, and countless worlds unfold simultaneously around us.
Many of the textures and details within the music were conceived with spatial listening in mind, so it feels particularly meaningful to present these pieces through L-Acoustics' remarkable 17.1.10 immersive sound system.
Following the playback, I’ll be sharing a live improvisation on synthesizers with Spatial Audio - a first for me, and very much a live experiment. The afternoon may also offer a small glimpse of what is coming next.
This is a rare event in the beautiful and intimate Polygon Portal space in London. There are very limited seats remaining, and I would love to share it with you. 🙏"
